ALASKAN MALAMUTE WORLD 101 (HEALTH PROBLEMS)

                 puppy-training-malamute-2

On the part 1 of  Alaskan Malamute 101, the appearance and living condition for that breed of dogs was discussed. For the second part; health problems will be the center of concentration.

Mostly, the common problems to these dogs is the destruction to their digestive system which causes their tummies to become bigger. In short, canine bloat occurs. The danger in it is stretching and the lack of blood to the stomach’s cells can cause cell death, or necrosis. What makes it even worse and more immediately serious is when the stomach actually “twists and turns” (known as Volvulus) at the top near the esophagus and at the bottom of the stomach at the pyloric valve.

The dog goes into shock and then cardiac arrest. This can happen within several hours after the start of bloat. That is why , you must RUSH THE DOG IMMEDIATELY, to the vet or animal hospital.

The factors that causes canine bloat to these dogs were not actually known by experts just like the veterinarians and some research scientist. Its because, when they tried to have an experiment, all of the results were not successful. But the scientists believe in some points.

These causes in which they believed in includes the breed (especially the Alaskan Malamutes), the dog is deep-chested, malnutrition and being aggressive. But these were not totally explained and treated as a fact but a mere belief only.

Other common diseases of the malamutes is dysplasia and chondrodysplasia. These diseases were relating to the abnormalities in the passing of genetic materials of the adult malamutes  to their offspring. It affects the mutation which greatly disturb the genetic code of a dog which can unfortunately affect the physicalities of a malamute, especially the height.

This is just a proof that an Alaskan malamute needs more tender attention, care which is bounded with love from us people who is responsible also on handling them. Eventhough they are just aniumals, but they have also the right to be treated from their illnesses and continue living happily in this world.
